DELTAPHONIC (New Orleans, LA)

Deltaphonic is one of those bands who are out there creating their own genre. It’s rock ‘n roll, but it’s mixed with New Orleans funk, soul, and Hill Country blues.
Initially formed on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans in 2015, Deltaphonic solidified their current lineup in 2020 following the release of their third album, The Funk, the Soul & the Holy Groove. Road hardened from years of touring on three continents, Deltaphonic is a force to be reckoned with onstage and in the studio.
Anchored by band leader Andrew T. Weekes’ innovative songwriting aesthetic, and empowered by the prodigious musicality and production genius of guitar wizard Paul Provosty (Flowtribe, Earphunk), drummer Trenton O’Neal (The Rumble, Maggie Koerner), and slide player Logan Sellers (Lembo), Deltaphonic’s versatile sound paradoxically continues to expand while simultaneously becoming more cohesive.
Disenchanted in the wake of the pandemic, Deltaphonic left the U.S. and established a second home base on the coast of Ecuador where they now spend part of the year recording and producing their jungle music festival, Elcuator. The band’s new release, Maracuyero, is a five song EP recorded in Ecuador. It was released on December 9th, 2022.

“The Funk, the Soul & the Holy Groove is what they promise, and exactly what we receive. In fact, “Holy Groove” may just be the inexplicable descriptor of the genre these Crescent City masters have begat.”

“The southern rock and drone blues excursion that ensues drips with a heavy low-end and a tinge of funk—a sound aptly summarized by those two chosen words pregnant with sweat and blood: “Holy Groove.””
