The Copper Children are a unique blend of styles and influences that span from the choral sounds of American gospel music to the psychedelic acid jam fueled sounds of the 60s. Live they take you into your heart space, conjuring the spirit of unity, freedom, silliness, and love, with harmonies and rhythms that remind us of our shared humanity. The Copper Children have shared the stage with notable artists such as Jerry Garcia Band, The Flobots, Devotchka, Mike Love, Everyone Orchestra, Elephant Revival, Dustbowl Revival, Handmade Moments, and many more. Over the years the band has performed for audiences at Summer Camp, Northwest String Summit, Arise Music Festival, and on national tours of the U.S. Like a roller coaster, their “Psychedelic Gospel” experience leaves audiences feeling transported to the rail-yards of freedom.

Born of stardust and cosmic slop in a distant galaxy, The Phryg traveled light years in space to share his knowledge of deep interstellar vibrations. He spent years posing as an ordinary refrigerator across the globe before carefully selecting four elite earthlings in whom he bestowed the great power of the funk. After intense physical and mental training, the students would go on to form a band manufacturing melodious sounds unlike anything heard by the ears of mankind. Infectious grooves and tantalizing melodies woven into exploratory soundscapes seething with virtuosic solos and mind-blowing jams all while keeping that booty shaking. Born was the future of music This is…THE PHRYG

Recently The Phryg has shared the stage with phenomenal performers such as Bob Lanzetti of Snarky Puppy, The Fritz, Electric Love Machine, Tweed and many more. Having drawn attention from publications such as Performer Magazine, The Jamwich, The Journal News and Pittsburgh Music Magazine, The Phryg released their self-titled full length album in July 2016 as a follow up to their debut EP “Midnight Snack”.

“These bad boys from Brooklyn were hard to peg, with elements of rock, prog and jam, spread thick on a toast of funk. It was delicious to my ears.” – Sound and Silence Magazine

Pushing the limits of both genre and musicality, Brooklyn’s Cousin Earth delivers catchy tunes with a progressive spirit. Featuring both an original repertoire and a vast array of covers, the band delivers a wide tonal palette that has as much a sense of humor as it does a sense of purpose. From shredding ukulele solos and 4-part vocal breakdowns to interweaving themed medleys, Cousin Earth is sure to catch the attention of any music lover. Presenting a multitude of styles including Rock, Funk, Ragtime, Latin, Bluegrass, Hip Hop, and even electronica, no musical style is off-limits for this otherworldly live act.

Cousin Earth (originally called Ukulelien) was formed in 2013 by Joey Calfa and Nate Searing. The two met while playing in a Frank Zappa cover band in college called the Mothers of Intention. Before founding Cousin Earth, Calfa and Searing went on to play together in the progressive jam band Mercury Landing. It was from this group that they recruited Tara Lawton, Corey J. Feldman, and Terry Brennan to join the band. Melissa Goscinski took over for Lawton on vocals in 2018.

Having played over 300 shows throughout the Northeastern United States, Cousin Earth has built their fan base from the ground up. From Maine to North Carolina, the band has played with notable acts including Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, the Werks, Aqueous, Future Folk, Andy Frasco, Rustic Overtones, and many more. The group has also cultivated a strong internet following through their engaging videos and consistent attention to fans. With over a million cumulative views from Youtube and Facebook videos, the band brings in thousands of visitors from around the world every month. Their music video for “Universoul” is in Hard Rock Café’s video library and can be seen at locations across the globe. Always striving to be creative in providing the best experience for their followers, “Color-Me-In” t-shirts, choreographed dance moves, and a tap-dancing / light-saber wielding dinosaur mascot are just some things you can expect from these Cousin Earthlings.

On November 20th 2015, Cousin Earth released a self-titled debut EP on all major platforms. To follow up their EP, the group released a full-length album entitled “Human Music” on April 27th, 2018. This release fully embodies the intricate musicality, sense of humor, and tight vocal harmonies that have become a staple of their live act.

“Cousin Earth blew my socks off last time I saw them in DC. They released their newest album, “Human Music” this week and it is all at once masterful, funky, and fun. Their on-stage presence is infectious”Nina Goodman DC Music Review

“they are a special experience due to the eccentric and original style and flair, including unique time signatures and song structure … Cousin Earth is an ascending band that one should watch and expect great things from in the immediate future.” Chadbyrne R. Dickens Live For Live Music

Lord Nelson has won many fans over the last several years with their spirited live performances and serious musical chops. Those fans should raise a glass, because they’re about to get their ears blown off with the new full-length album Through the Night, set for a late spring release. The album possesses a depth of sound that can only come from the frequent addition of piano, organ, and horns to guitar-based rock. This set of songs, written on the road and between tours, explores dark themes of relationships, the political climate of the country, and what it means to spend your days in a van, traveling the highways of America.

Musically, the songs don’t hesitate to dive deep into grooves, peeling off that outer layer of song craft to illustrate a wide palate. With haunting guitars, a driving rhythm section, and big chorus’, this album represents a thin coat of finish on a hard worn sound. The lead-off single “Tail Lights” grapples with the joys and challenges of the road for those on it and those left at home. Other standout tracks include the powerful “Second Chances,” the zeitgeist commentary of “Southern Discomfort” and “Safety Meeting.” A moment of levity with the swamp tinged “Good Time” provides a snapshot into the simple pleasures.

Produced over the last year by Dave Stipe (Rockfish Music) at Monkeyclaus Studio in Nelson County, VA, the record has a full, Rock’n’Roll identity, heavily laced with Americana and Soul. Whether it’s a fat horn section under a slide guitar riff, propelling it powerfully forward, or a harmony vocal giving the song an extra dimension, the album illustrates the power of a band bringing lyric driven songs to full expression. As anyone who has seen their live show will tell you, while there are several excellent solos and impressive individual moments, the thing that gets you – the thing that keeps you coming back – is that full sound. Sonically, the band is greater than the sum of its parts, in the best possible way.

The unified musicianship of the band serves as a solid home base for the searching lyrics of lead singer and guitarist Kai Crowe-Getty. In addition, the band’s multi-instrumentalist, Henry Jones, takes a break from keys and trombone to jump on the mic for a few tracks, bringing an R&B urgency. The current lineup includes Jones’s brother Calloway on lead guitar, Andrew Hollifield on bass, and Johnny Stubblefield behind the sticks. With a full tour of the east coast and points west in the works, this is a band in command of their sound, bringing strong songs in hard times to towns across the country. Keep your head up.

Lord Nelson is two brothers, one greasy trombone, backbone bass, pocket drums, dirty south guitar and a hell of a lot of fun. They play rock and roll that is at once accessible and original. Formed in 2012 by Kai and Bram Crowe-Getty, the band cut their teeth rehearsing in basements and barns. Lord Nelson brings the same sense of intimacy to house parties and outdoor pavilions alike. The raw energy that these five Virginia boys display each night has created a party that connects with a diverse audience. Their original compositions are varied and range from slow burning, harmony laced anthems to back beat pulsing floor stompers. Lord Nelson’s music is anything but ironic — their lyrical roots grow from a sense of place and visceral life experiences. Their songs not only celebrate a time when hardworking rock and roll bands thrived throughout America, but also pay tribute to musical mentors, lost loved ones and rowdy nights on the town. This is an ambitious young group with a powerful live stage presence. There is a kinetic whirlwind when these guys hit the stage and it is certainly one that you want to be swept up in. Now a regionally touring act, Lord Nelson is a band on an upward trajectory with plans to play upward of 150 shows in the coming year. They released their outstanding debut album “The County” in fall 2015 and appeared at the Lockn Festival in Virginia that September. They are now preparing for a new release in spring 2018 followed by an extensive national tour.

Leaving a trail of burned up bars and sweat soaked guitars since 2009, the Dyrty Byrds have shown no mercy in their pursuit of original guitar driven rock and roll. Tori Pater, Eric Martinez, Mike “Spanky” McCluer, and Andrew Clapp are a four-piece rock band from Denver, CO that would fit as easily into the 1970’s classic/southern rock scene as they do in modern day American music.

Playing on their love of songwriting and rock & roll, Tori Pater (Polytoxic) and Eric Martinez (Bloodkin) have been playing music together since 2004 and have eased into a prolific songwriting partnership which is deeply solidified on the new Dyrty Byrds release Failure is Feedback, due out March 18, 2016. The vast majority of the new songs were born and flushed out in Tori’s basement with just he and Eric and a couple of acoustic guitars.

Seeing a few different formations after their debut, Dyrty Byrds have worn the tried and true rock & roll recipe of two guitars, bass, and drums as a badge of honor for the better part of their existence. Mike “Spanky” McCluer (Larry) and Andrew Clapp (Forever In Blue Jeans) on Bass and drums (respectively) bring a “freight train through the Rockies” type sound to the band that only Spanky and Andy can produce.

Failure Is Feedback is the Dyrty Byrds’ third release and second album done with Chad “Chadzilla” Johnson at 25 BPM Studios in Denver, CO. Failure touches on outlaw country, a little punk rock, and funk with steady doses of rock & roll through out the record. It takes you to a place where guitars rule, truth is paramount, and the bar is always open.
