Rarely could an artist be said to transcend, yet include, the most raw and real elements of soul, roots rock, folk, funk, Hill Country blues and rap. Nevertheless-with bone-deep authenticity-that’s exactly what one-man wrecking crew Bret Mosley does, wrestling deftly with longing, belonging, and world-weariness…on the way to hope and grace…

A singular artist who blends Americana, blues, and soulful folk into a uniquely potent sound that is introspective, raw, and emotional, Bret Mosley’s stirring vocals, intricate lap slide guitar work, and stomping groove deliver deeply personal and poetic songwriting that explores the complexities of love, longing, belonging and the crux of the human adventure.

Originally from western Texas, Mosley resided in Brooklyn, NY and toured the United States heavily between 2008 and 2014.  His debut album “Light and Blood” drew national critical acclaim, and he also released a collaboration EP “Charge” with acclaimed songwriter Jerry Joseph in 2009.  In 2015, Mosley relocated to Australia, where he has been well established as a force on the down under music scene.

In July 2023, Mosley released his long-awaited album, Through the Fire. Seven years in the making, the 11-track album chronicles Mosley’s remarkable personal and musical evolution. Drawing inspiration from his harrowing first few years after immigrating from the US to Australia, Mosley’s lyrics resonate with authenticity, delving deep into themes of resilience, triumph, and the transformative power of love.

He has shared the stage with Trombone Shorty, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, George Porter Jr., Jackie Greene, Patterson Hood, Junior Brown, Kelly Joe Phelps, the Subdudes, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Jerry Joseph, Stockholm Syndrome, Cary Hudson, Bloodkin, and Garry Burnside, among many others.
